Diyarbakır to Izmir Transfer: local guide and transport tips

Our Diyarbakır to Izmir Transfer takes you from Diyarbakır to Izmir without changes or waiting for departures. More routes are listed on Diyarbakır city centre transfer.

Which provinces does the road to İzmir cross?

The road cuts diagonally across Anatolia from south-east to west. The car takes the D360 to Şanlıurfa and the Adana–Şanlıurfa motorway (O-52) past Gaziantep and Osmaniye to Çukurova. Near Tarsus it joins the Ankara–Tarsus motorway, crosses the Taurus at Pozantı and drops via Ereğli onto the Konya plain. After Konya it follows the D300 to Afyonkarahisar, then Uşak, and enters İzmir from the Manisa side.

This is the main corridor the coach companies use too, with big cities strung along it: Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Adana, Konya, Afyon, Uşak. That means options for fuel, food and rest on every section. In winter the high plain between Konya and Afyon can be foggy or icy.

Two drivers non-stop, or a night in Konya?

For a Diyarbakır to İzmir transfer in one go, two drivers take turns, one resting while the other drives, with breaks for fuel and food every few hours. A car leaving in the evening reaches the Aegean the following day.

Families who want to split the trip usually stop in Konya, roughly halfway. After a night at a hotel there you continue via Afyon and Uşak and reach İzmir in the afternoon, and there is time for an evening stroll near the Mevlana Museum. On moving day the driver arrives a little early to help load, with fragile items packed on top.

Who books this route, and where do they get off?

Families moving to the Aegean are the main passengers: civil servants posted to İzmir, retired couples settling by the sea and grandparents moving near their children, all wanting to bring their belongings without airline limits. Cases, boxes and even house plants fit in a Sprinter. Pet owners, people who cannot or will not fly, and students enrolling at Ege or Dokuz Eylül universities use it too.

Arriving from the Manisa side makes Bornova and Karşıyaka easy to reach, and Konak, Buca, Karabağlar and Gaziemir are a short drive further. Passengers flying from Adnan Menderes Airport go straight to the terminal. For Çeşme, Urla or Seferihisar the route can carry on west by motorway without crossing the city.

Distance and drive time

About 1300 km, usually 15 h 30 min and up to 18 h 35 min at busy times. The route heads north-west via Ergani onto the Elazığ road, then winds through the Maden hills — scenic, with bends that need care.

Frequently asked questions

If we stay in Konya, does the same car pick us up next day?

Yes. You spend the night at a hotel of your choice in Konya while the driver completes his rest. The next morning the car collects you from the same address and continues via Afyon and Uşak to İzmir. Luggage can stay in the vehicle overnight, but keep valuables with you.

Can we bring our potted plants when moving to İzmir?

Yes. Put the pots in boxes or crates packed so the soil cannot spill. On a long drive you can talk to the driver about air conditioning and sunlight for the plants. Large tree pots or a great many plants affect which vehicle we send, so mention them when booking.

How long does the Diyarbakır to Izmir Transfer take?

About 15 h 30 min in normal traffic, up to 18 h 35 min at busy times.

Can I book the return from Izmir as well?

Yes — tick “Add return” in the form and both legs are planned in one booking.
